Question re: Membership. I would love to join the membership but what is stopping me is because Iā€™m hard of hearing. Iā€™m worried that Iā€™m not going to hear everyone if there are no closed captioning [CC]. (Iā€™ve been meaning to ask, so I thought it was fitting to ask on this video.)Are there CC or subtitles on some of the videos. I completely understand that not all videos can be CC. I know itā€™s can be very expensive to add them. Also, thanks for having CC on your videos and shorts!!!

I have a deaf min dachshund I need help training. She is constantly with me probably because she cannot hear me. I would like to take her to work with me but she loves people and if put down she will run to them. She barks and cries when she wants something but she can’t hear herself and is very loud. I will add she is very intelligent and she has figured out how to bribe them with a toy and when they get up she stills what they have and runs under furniture where they can’t get to her.

All my dogs could sign. Even if they were able to hear. Itā€™s handy for when they go deaf in old age if they can still understand you. My Jack Russell aged 4 is deaf, she knows loads of signs, very intelligent.

This was great for a 50-100 lb dog. How do I touch my 8 lb deaf Shih-tuz on a walk without bending over and maybe stumbling? I’m 20 not years old any more.

My last dog was deaf and so I feel I can know scientifically say that itā€™s true that in fact all deaf doggos are ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ„°

You are truly fantastic. What you’re doing for us and our animal companions is beautiful and noble. We’ll have to start calling you Deaf Dog Dude.
Your video presentations are really entertaining due to your clear speech, simple directions, and real-life scenario training with your clients.

Billy Jr., my Miniature Schnauzer, is 13 years old and has been losing his hearing for almost 2 years. In Singapore, we prepared for trials and advanced obedience training. We’ve returned to the United States and must use nonverbal commands. We have threeĀ questions for you: (1) Do you have a deaf dog training video series that we can buy or watch? (2) Are there any deaf dog trainers in Washington or Oregon? (3) Do you have resources we can watch or buy for dogs who already have advanced foundations in obedience training (heel on command, retrieve, off-leash heel, etc.)?

  19. @popcat4941 on October 3, 2024 at 9:58 pm

So glad I found this, my 11 month gsd is deaf, we thought she was just ignoring us. We clicked when we noticed her looking at our husky for direction, and she always watches our finger’s for commands. It’s hard and we are still learning.

It’s scary cause I have a death dog, and I got it for my son and me for a companion. I have a broken hip and it’s hard for me to train him and I’m trying to watch your videos. I wish it was somewhere you could contact me and help me. Cause it’s amazing. The dog is as big as that white. When I live in an apartment building it keeps getting out when I worry about it

  35. @rosemurawsky9158 on October 3, 2024 at 10:18 pm

Wow! Thanks for making this video! I have a deaf aussie-poodle who has become very leash reactivity after several bad encounters with off-leash aggressive dogs coming up to us while one leash. I’ve been watching lots of your videos and your building up my confidence to try a prong collar. I’ve used a halti in the past which has helped a lot with the pulling, but hasn’t really helped with the leash reactivity.

Thinking of getting a deaf dog

  38. @wingnutbert9685 on October 3, 2024 at 10:24 pm

Nice to see you not insist on holding the dog to the left. I see so many trainers get hung up on that. Some people are just more coordinated with having the dog on the right and the dog doesn’t care. And once they get to the remote collar, it’s going to be fabulous for them and the dog.

  39. @Jades.Working.K9s on October 3, 2024 at 10:24 pm

I believe that my 5 month old Great Dane puppy is deaf.

  40. @BeyondEcho95 on October 3, 2024 at 10:24 pm

I trained my deaf dog from a young age. she’s only an aussie, but I just did a lot of desensitization from a young age, taught her to keep focus when other dogs or people walked by, did a lot of sign language training, and more. she’s my most obedient dog by far, and being deaf has almost become a gift, haha.

in addition, Tom mentioned the dog being aware of the owner; omg yes. My deaf dog is CONSTANTLY checking to see where I’m at at all times

  41. @chelseyingalls2102 on October 3, 2024 at 10:27 pm

I think the exaggerated movements and slight touches make a lot of sense rather than full signs. I’m an ASL interpreter and I’ve observed Deaf adults with their Deaf children and they use light touches with Deaf infants to notify them of their presence when out of eye shot. You can’t handle and stop to do two handed ASL signs with your dog.

  42. @nickernator4788 on October 3, 2024 at 10:32 pm

More training of the owner than the dog.

  43. @MakaylaChildress on October 3, 2024 at 10:33 pm

I have a deaf and half blind Great Dane so training has been a learning curve for me and itā€™s been difficult for him to catch on. Heā€™s also got terrible focus so Iā€™m going to try and implement this training to see if it will help! Thank you for the video!

How do you train a deaf dog to live in the home with small children? This training seems amazing for being in public, but what do you do for the dog at home when the kids run by her and she jumps and snaps because they scare her?

This chick is hard to watch… crikey. I own a deaf Great Pyranese. It’s high maintenance af but you just have to have common sense. If you aren’t smart enough and assertive enough to connect with your dog, you shouldn’t own a dog, cuz your dog will just own you.
